FUEL CHARGES
ON CAR HIRE BOOKINGS
Most car hire
locations are now imposing a ‘prepaid fuel charge’ on all car hire
bookings which do not include a fuel charge. At the time the car
is collected clients are issued with an estimated charge invoice
which includes the cost of a full tank of fuel with associated service
charges. The cost of the fuel is then debited to the credit card
used as security for the car. No refund is made in respect of any
fuel unused at the end of the hire period and most car hire locations
will no longer remove the fuel charge when cars are returned with
a full tank of fuel.
The car hire
companies’ own terms and conditions make provision for making such
charges and we are unable to obtain a refund of any such charges
made after clients return to the UK.
The cost of
the fuel provided by the car hire companies is substantially higher
than the ‘pump cost’. If clients do not wish to accept the prepaid
fuel charges one option would be to take the ‘Gold Rate’ car hire
which includes additional drivers and a full tank of fuel for an
additional charge of only £20 per week.
CAR FACILITY
CHARGES (CFC) – MIAMI AND LAS VEGAS PICK UPS
On 1 May 2004
all car hire companies operating out of Miami and Las Vegas airports
introduced a Car Facility Charge (CFC) of approximately $3-5 per
day. This charge is collected locally and has been implemented to
support the upkeep of the airports. We have no control over these
locally introduced charges which are not included in the prepaid
car hire rates we offer.
